I just got an HD-PVR. When I plug it in, /var/log/messages says

Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: New USB device found, idVendor=2040, idProduct=4902
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: Product: Hauppauge HD PVR
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: Manufacturer: AMBA
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: SerialNumber: 00A3D457
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: usb 1-6: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: hdpvr 1-6:1.0: untested firmware version 0x12, the driver might not work
Apr 23 15:11:58 localhost kernel: hdpvr 1-6:1.0: device now attached to /dev/video8

The last line says it is attached to /dev/video8. But there is no /dev/video8 that gets created. If I look at the creation time for /dev/video*, it looks like /dev/video2 gets created when I plug it in. I googled around a bit and couldn't find a similar issue. Anyone have ideas?
