Lightning struck close to my house and took out everything that had an
ethernet cable plugged into it. 2) A network switch borked causing network
connectivity problems (FDX/HDX mismatch).  One of these caused exactly what
you describe: a "successful" recording that has no data (probably shows up
in MythWeb with a size of "B").  Solutions: 1) replaced the HDHR; 2) fixed
the network problem.

... and #2 has happened more than once, although always self-induced.  :-)
