Yeah, I figured it was unlikely.

I'd be curious to see if it behaves differently with a different
machine (or more specifically, a different usb controller). I doubt if
there's a different version of the same hardware that works
differently, and for the outbound packet transfers to fail, we're
talking a really low-level failure, outbound packet data should be
showing up from the driver's probe function, which leads me to think
maybe it doesn't like the usb controller its hooked into. Worst-case,
send it my way and I can investigate. :)
