Hi all

>From the problems I have had installing it would appear I have digital
cable, Yet when I called the provider they say no it's digital cable
and recommend HRC.
They sent me a frequencies chart

Right now my hookup is as follows:

Cable from provider -->> Splitter ---> TV channel 2-99 (old TV)
                           |
                           |
                        Splitter  ---> Computer HVR 1800
                           |
                           |
HD Cable Box <<HDMI>> HD TV (Channel 2-1127+)

CATV PPP 79 547.25 547.25 546.00 HYPER

Just portions of the table

1) How can I prove I have digital or analog cable ?

2) I have the HVR-1800 it has cable three connectors on back plate
   Hauppauge says they are for:
   http://www.hauppauge.com/pics/wintv-hvr-1800_connectors-b.jpg
   FM radio
   Analog cable TV
   ATSC / QAM digital TV

Into the A/V header I have on the front of the computer an S-Video
   and Composite connection

Which is the right one to use ?

3) Using the new v4l-dvb from linuxtv.org
   I now have a /dev/video0 and /dev/video1

in MythTV Backend It has in 4. Input Connections
      Television , Composite1 & SVideo

Which of the three connectors is Television ?
Right now I have Television -> Cable (video source name)
   Composite1 & SVideo -> none

4) Capture Card options Which is right??
   Right now I'm using
   IVTV MPEG-2 encoder card & /dev/video0

5) Running the latest w_scan 20100316 it starts with
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
57000: QAM256(time: 00:00)
63000: QAM256(time: 00:03)
69000: QAM256(time: 00:05)

If I'm guessing correctly this is scanning on frequency 57.000
63.000 and 69.000 If I'm right according to the table given by the
provider there are not channels there the closest are
CATV 3 HRC 60.000
CATV 4 HRC 66.000
CATV A-7 5 HRC 78.000

(a) am I right?
(b) How do I change the frequencies w_scan is looking for
I tried various options and the only thing to change is QAM256 to 8VSB

Thanks in advance

Barry
