Got desperate, grabbed a laptop with windows on it, installed software
and drivers, noticed that an orange light was on the front of the hdpvr,
it shut off after the windows install, and wasn't shutting off with
anything I did in linux. No change, still does it.

[root at cyclops mark]# modprobe -rv hdpvr
rmmod /lib/modules/2.6.33-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media/video/hdpvr/hdpvr.ko
[root at cyclops mark]# modprobe -v hdpvr
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.33-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media/video/hdpvr/hdpvr.ko
[root at cyclops mark]#
[root at cyclops mark]# ls -l /dev/video*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       6 Apr  9 22:47 /dev/video -> video0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 0 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 2 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video1
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 6 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video2
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 5 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video25
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 9 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video26
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 11 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video3
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 3 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video33
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 7 Apr 9 22:47 /dev/video34
[root at cyclops mark]#

Note that now the /dev/video4 node is gone since I removed the module.
It won't come back now unless I go and power cycle the hdpvr.
the other ones are two PVR-250's and two Pinnacle 800i cards.

The module seems to be very fussy now and it wasn't before. I used to
be able to reboot and have everything come right back up online, now I
need to finesse the hdpvr
to get the node to show up. Sometimes power cycle it several times to
get the node to initialize.
