I suppose I could blame the router... I had reserved an IP address but I 
had to replace the router and the new one came with a different default 
subnet. Instead of changing the new router's default to 192.168.0.x  I 
stupidly changed MythTV to 192.168.1.x to match the router. The 
transition caused several problems because devices on the old subnet 
were invisible from devices on the new subnet and vice-versa.
