There are a couple of lengthy threads recently discussing this issue
at length. Check the archives. It is because of the theme specific
effects being applied and then cached. There currently is no way to
script it or do it in batch mode. The changes needed to be applied by
mythUI so it would be challenging to do it outside of mythfrontend. It
was suggested that this will be improved for .23 but won't likely
change for .22.
