[mythtv-users] MythBuntu (juanty) and updates

My MythTV is running MythBuntu (jaunty).

I installed it a month or two ago, and have yet install any updates. My
original MythTV system was a gentoo (pre-built), and the company I
bought it from stated, don't do any updates, it will break things.

Now I'm very familiar with debian, and ubuntu.

Will running updates break anything that I may need?

With the new season starting, I'd had to miss an episode or two
