If the tagging info is correct, then it's less important.  Whether the
tagging info is correct/consistent depends on your source though.

Personally, I use:
    ARTIST/YEAR - ALBUMNAME/TRACKNUMBER - TITLE.MP3
and have a single VARIOUS directory for multiple-artist collections.
