...it's a lot less tricky than you might thing. 

My original master backend died more or less of natural causes lately
and I just replaced it with something that looks like I might have 
gotten in in an HP box from Costco. Whereas the old machine was my 
first myth box and I was trying to make it look the part.

Ultimately it didn't matter. Although the "desktop" case in the old
box was somewhat less convenient as it didn't lend itself well to 
being dumped on the floor.

I'm partial to SATA hot swap racks myself.

No more going into the backend to add/upgrade drives.

In that light, my only real system recommendation (besides the
SATA racks) would be to get a board with lots of SATA ports. It's
always nice to be able to add a drive or 3 extra as time goes by.
