As I said, mine has a molex also, so I wouldn't fear grabbing power off
of a hard drive connector.  I've noticed that my VFD still displays
after the system powers off, so it's obvious that it's using the 5SB
line for at least some power.  I'm not sure why it needs separate 5V
from the ATX plug and from a molex.

I don't think mine is hooked into the power switch - at least the power
button on the MCE remote I'm using just acts like any other button.
