[mythtv-users] Getting iptables and a HDHomeRun to work together in Fedora!

I've always run with iptables off due to problems getting it to work
with the HDHomerun. I've seen various solutions to this by setting up
iptables manually but I want to be able to use the gui. After running
across this[1] googling yet again for an answer I had an idea.

What if system-config-firewall allowed for custom rules to get past
the problem that the ports that need to be allowed are source ports
not destination ports?

Low and behold the last option is "Custom Rules"!

FYI I already had 65001 udp/tcp opened in "Other Ports"

Here's the rest:

1. Put the rules from [1] into a file: /etc/sysconfig/iptables-hdhr
2. Defined custom rule: Protocol Type: ivp4, Firewall Table: filter,
File: /etc/sysconfig/iptables-hdhr
3. Apply

Voilla!

Now my system works properly with the HDHomerun!

Hope this helps.

Richard
