Howdy Mitch,

I can't imagine that it makes a difference, but mythbuntu normally has
permissions of 775.  Failing that, and that you're sure your channel
changing and video capture devices work properly under 9.10 / 2.6.31
(via mplayer or vlc or whatever), all I can suggest is --verbose logs.
