If we're talking about tables that just happen to be missing from a
database crash or whatever, what kind of warning could they give ahead
of time?  "If your database is hosed the upgrade won't work"?  I'm not
sure what you expect there.

I'm not sure what "wild goose chase" you're referring to.  That
database corruption issue due to connection default character sets is
far from a wild goose chase.  It's something that affects all Gentoo
users like myself for one thing.

I didn't mean the total number of tables...I meant the number of those
tables that are actually being altered during the 1214->1215 upgrade.
