[mythtv-users] Why Does JAMU Need R/W Access to Video Files?

I store posters, fanart, etc. on the backend system. The mythtv user has
full access to those directories. I have a lot of videos on various
machines on the LAN and most of those directories are mounted read-only.

JAMU spits out messages like:

! Error: Video directory (/storage/videos/misc) does not exist or the
permissions are not read and writable.

when run with this command:

su mythtv -c "/usr/bin/python
/usr/share/mythtv/mythvideo/scripts/jamu.py -MI >>
'/var/log/mythtv/jamu.log'"

It then exits.

Why does JAMU need r/w access to video directories?
