Dear Paul,
I think I solved my problem: I borrowed a rather old, but still working
nVidia GeFroce 4000 MX, and after some work I managed to install the
right drivers, and now MythTV works fine, and xine too (I didn't try
ogle, yet). At least, I can watch my recordings and even cut them as
I've always been doing before this accident. I still have problems with
live TV, but I seldom watch TV on my PC, I just need to record some
programs I can't watch at their air time.
Clearly there is something wrong with the integrated graphics card. One
thing I didn't mention before is that sometimes every player was showing
some sort of solarization effect, only playing, not when in pause. A
very strange behaviour, I say. Maybe the integrated card had some
problem with movies only, because photos, still images and even 3D games
like neverputt that need acceleration worked perfectly fine. Mah...
So, many thanks for you kind help, and best regards.
