I've got the same case, same lsusb results, and a "Vista-certified MCE 
Remote" that I got from Amazon.

It all works.

I'm wondering if some of the confusion here is about defining "MCE 
remote".  I read somewhere to go for "Vista certified", which I presume 
meant RC6.  The original poster might check the vintage and RC-level of 
his "MCE remote".

I only get one lirc device.
