Thanks for your kind answer.

I'm using the debian-multimedia repository. I didn't know there were
other repositories for multimedia stuff, I'll take a look.

Currently I'm using the UseFBDevice option in xorg.conf, but I also
tried with intel and i810 drivers, same results.

The problem affects mythtv (recordings and livetv), ogle and xine, but
not mplayer, ffplay and totem. Flash movies work like a charm (I watch
them in the browser, both Epiphany and Iceweasel).

Today I made a little step forward: using xine (whose GUI allow me to
control settings) I noticed that if I set "Video / 100 %" I can see the
movie, though very much enlarged as if the zoom was 200% or even 400%
(hard to say).

This sounds very strange to me. Even trying other settings it's still
impossible to view a movie as it is with mplayer and other players, but
I can't figure out why xine behaves this way. I'm sure I could do the
same I did with xine with mythtv too, but mythtv's GUI is out of
control, so I don't know I to do the above trick.

Anyway many thanks and best regards.

PS
I'll try to compile the sources, too.
