There is nothing to specify whether you're using DVI or HDMI; to your card 
they are functionally identical.  (Well, unless you try and send audio down 
a DVI cable, that is.  Technically you can't do that.)

Have you tried it?  Most nvidia cards will auto-detect what monitor is 
attached where and just run with it; normally you only have to mess with 
your xorg if you want to do a twinview setup.  (Two monitors at once.)
