Perhaps that's the reason the author chose dvb, it seems a valid assumption.

I've also noticed that if you are running the MythTVbackend, the app
doesn't work because MyhTV uses the device. So, it would be a pain to
stop Mythbackend just to run the app. Maybe there's a way around this?
