[mythtv-users] OT: OTA CBS in Chicago?

Nobody yet has mentioned the elephant in the room, as far as WBBM is concerned.

The OP is close enough to downtown that pointing his antenna at the
Sears & Hancock Towers leaves the suburb where WBBM's transmission
currently originates in a dead spot of the antenna pattern (IIRC,
Itasca).

It may not be a huge deadspot for the OP, but even though both
transmission sites are more or less in line for my antenna, I can't
get anything but a hint of signal strength for WBBM on my ATSC
converter box even with my antenna mounted 10+ feet above the roof
peak of my two story house with a mast-mounted preamp hooked up for
good measure. As anyone in the Chicago suburbs knows, WBBM has
___ALWAYS___ had a sh**ty signal. Let us hope this will _really_ be
fixed when they move to transmitting on ATSC Ch. 12 from the Sears
Tower (or is it the Hancock Tower?). The response I got to
complaining to them about the miserable ATSC reception took two months
after I contacted them and they basically said to wait until they
transition and get back to them at that time. At least written
between the lines was the implication that they would not transition
until they were forced to go kicking and screaming at the last second
by the FCC, so if the transition date is now 6/17, don't expect to see
them in a re-scan until 6/18 minus 0.00001 milliseconds.
