That link makes it pretty clear that it does _NOT_ affect standard firmware. The
reason is that the attack is via ssh using passwords. Standard firmware does not
enable ssh. The only way to access it is via http from the local network.

The problem of the OP is likely due to some failure in the router itself;
however, resetting it via the standard method, reflashing the firmware and
reconfiguration using a very strong password is warranted.
