>So the two Technotrend ones work well for some time and then develop the
issue? Have you always swapped out the same Technotrend for the KNC1 or have
you also tried swapping out the other Technotrend (just to rule out that one
of >the Technotrend adapters is flakey). One thing worth trying (which you
may already have) is to try different PCI slots to rule out shared interrupt
issues. It seems both the KNC1 and the Technotrend adapters are based on the
same >chipset, but who know s it may make a difference.

Hello Jelte

lspci -vv
Came with the following info.

03:01.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
	Subsystem: Philips Semiconductors Device 4f56
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
	Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-
<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
	Latency: 64 (3750ns min, 9500ns max)
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 19
	Region 0: Memory at fd9ff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]
	Kernel driver in use: budget_av
	Kernel modules: budget-av, snd-aw2

03:04.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Technotrend Systemtechnik GmbH Device 100f
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
	Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-
<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
	Latency: 64 (3750ns min, 9500ns max)
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 17
	Region 0: Memory at fd9fe000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]
Kernel driver in use: budget_ci dvb
	Kernel modules: budget-ci, snd-aw2

So the the Technotrend and the KNC1 use different drivers.
And the card in the pci slot where the TT card crashed uses IRQ 19 (this IRQ
is share with the USB and SATA controller)
So apparently the KNC1 Card with the budget_av driver has less trouble with
sharing.
I will try swapping cards to see which pci slots I can use without sharing
IRQ's (I can not try this now because the backend is in use)

I have 3 Technotrend Cards and 2 KNC1 cards all with CI Module
I tried several combinations but could not notice instability with one
particular card (using 2 technotrend cards in general is not stable.)

I will do some more testing

Wim
