Perhaps you should read the installation instructions?

Looks like you have a friend who half-installed myth on your system.
:)  Or maybe installed the packages but didn't configure the backend.
You need to run through all of mythtv-setup (run in a terminal) and do
each step in turn.  Now, as the frontend and backend are talking to
each other, I would leave the "General" portion, Step 1, all alone.
You don't want to break that.  But all remaining steps need to be done
in order.
