You shouldn't have needed to drop/restore...  The optimize_mythdb.pl 
script (in contrib) as well as the repair button in MythWeb's database 
settings section are meant to fix corrupted MySQL tables.  (Note that 
they don't fix the data, so you'd need to re-run mythfilldatabase after, 
but...)
