Boy that's the truth, never assume. I was bringing up a new BE/FE combo 
yesterday, and had no audio either live or on recordings.

Checked everything, tried alsa:default, /dev/dsp, nothing worked. This should 
not have been so hard.

Of course the station I was watching/recording had audio problems and was not 
sending any audio.

Check the source before you assume it's your Myth box. I was a victim of very 
poor timing and not checking more than one source.
