let me correct myself...  if you use:

Option "DynamicTwinView" "FALSE"

it WILL NOT use the metamode/refresh rate hack, and if your both of your 
screens are the same resolution, you will not be able to use xrandr to 
distinguish between the two screens, as twinview exports only 1 large screen 
to X, though the refresh rate will be correct.

i ran into this issue when i was configuring two outputs: 1 lcd and 1 tv out 
(projector) and i wanted to be able to map a remote button to have the 
projector on and the lcd off and vice versa.  so with the case of both of my 
twinview screens being the same size, i cannot disable DynamicTwinView, or i 
won't have a way to use xrandr to distinguish between the two screens as it 
will output only one resolution and one refresh rate.
