[mythtv-users] cannot connect to database

So I am very new to this program, but have spent the last few weeks spinning
my wheels searching around on the internet trying to find out why I keep
getting the same error and have come up dry.

 

I have done a fresh install of ubuntu feisty and installed mythtv going
through all the setups like I have seen in instructions online.  However,
now when I go to run the front end all I get is the can not connect to
database message followed by the database connection setup menus.  I am at a
loss.  I have tried both the ip of the actual machine as well as localhost
and nothing seems to work.  

 

I am sure this is just a newbie issue and is something simple I am
overlooking.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
