I also had what seemed to be motherboard related problems with USB
in general and the HD-PVR in particular. I have an Asus P45 board that
just doesn't want to get along with the HD-PVR. Fortunately I had an old
non-vdpau mac mini lying around and I have the HD-PVR connected to that
now with minimal problems.
My HD-PVR backend seems no more crash prone than my master and both
are only moderately more crash prone with trunk versus 0.21.
