I got the following error message:

  /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lvdpau

late in the compilation process. On my 64-bit CentOS system using
ATrpms packages,

  $ cd /usr/lib64
  $ sudo ln -s nvidia-graphics180.22/libvdpau* .

solved this issue, although it's not the ideal solution as I'd have to
recreate the link each time the nvidia-* RPMs change. I'll report on
whether the build actually works or not once I obtain a VDPAU-capable
card; meanwhile I am using the build with the existing xv-blit
configuration.
