I got messages using aplay like "Warning: rate is not accurate
(requested = 44100Hz, got = 48000Hz)", so I was never sure if it was
supposed to work.

I wound up doing my sans-mythtv testing using the following form.
Note that for mplayer you use a period, instead of a comma, between
the zero and the three.

mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0.3 -afm hwac3 /some/dolbydigital/audio/file.wav
