and if you feel that you really must send html for whatever reason
then at least send both html *AND* plain text as properly formatted
multipart/alternative. this is a configuration option in thunderbird and
many other mail clients. then your message will be readable in all mail
clients, not just GUI+html clients.

this is to your benefit too if you ever have to ask for technical
help. a significant percentage, if not an overwhelming majority, of
technically skilled people use plain text mail clients like mutt and
will just ignore messages that can't easily be read.
