[mythtv-users] recorded vs recordedprogram table

I'm recording an old series (on RTN) and the local station is spotty in
providing episode descriptions. Some weeks they just give generics,
others they have the full listing.

I found an out of town station that is meticulous at providing the full
listing, and is in sync with the local station except for a a time offset.

I record off the local, and have started hand editing the database with
the info from the out of town when the local is generic. I do this after
the recording, using the data I pull with xmltv for the distant station.

My goal is to both have correct title/description, and prevent duplicate
recordings when the local does have a non-generic listing, and it has
already been recorded.

I am using the mysql query browser to edit both the "recorded" and
"recordedprogram" table which have redundant title/description/episode info.

Do I really need to be editing both to meet my goal?

Are there any better tools for this?
