I believe that a list of currently-available recordings is stored in
one of the db tables (RECORDED?).  Wouldn't it be possible to scan
that table for rows that don't have a corresponding file?

As I said earlier, my problem comes after that, which is still
figuring out how to tell mythbackend to record the next showing of
this episode.
