I have mine internally mounted. I ripped the front USB ports out of an
old computer case and used the cable to directly connect to the
internal motherboard USB ports. I just cable tied everything in place.

USB memory is so cheap that I don't think I would mind replacing it
once every couple of years if I have to. I would prefer to move the
logging elsewhere and will do eventually. At the moment, I have been
suffering from lots of messages in my mythfrontend log and was
thinking that keeping it local was best until I have it resolved. I
guess once everything is working fine, I may as well turn all logging
off for mythtv.
