I'm using "ffmpeg -i filename" to get the file information.
Some other 1080 files are:

 Duration: 01:37:25.6, start: 0.000000, bitrate: N/A
    Stream #0.0(eng): Video: h264, yuv420p, 1920x800 [PAR 1:1 DAR 12:5],
23.98 tb(r)
    Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: dca, 48000 Hz, 5:1
    Stream #0.2(eng): Subtitle: 0x0000

and

Duration: 02:02:32.3, start: 600.000000, bitrate: 16062 kb/s
  Program 1
    Stream #0.0[0x1011]: Video: h264, yuv420p, 1920x800 [PAR 1:1 DAR 12:5],
23.98 tb(r)
    Stream #0.1[0x1100]: Audio: liba52, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 640 kb/s

With the last one, which has the highest bitrate, CPU for instance is
between 60 and 70%, but playback is smooth.

The recording is

  Duration: 00:59:53.0, start: 88885.258133, bitrate: 12658 kb/s
  Program 1
    Stream #0.0[0xc82](eng): Audio: liba52, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 384 kb/s
    Stream #0.1[0xc85](dut): Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, 192 kb/s
    Stream #0.2[0xc8a]: Video: h264, yuv420p, 1920x1080 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9],
25.00 tb(r)

on the recording, both mythtv and xine barf with to high bitrate.
mplayer outputs a warning:
MBAFF + spatial direct mode is not implemented
Is that any indication?
