Possibly you meant hardware decoding?  With my signals dropping out, I
just get a blocky picture for a little.  Sometimes if the signal is
particularly bad, a 30 minute recording may only have about 5 minutes
of video.  These I just "delete and rerecord".
When I switched to digital sound, I don't get static anymore, but a
"buzz".  Even with the bad signals, VDPAU handles it just as good IMO,
I recommend the upgrade for sure.
