There's also the question of encryption. Many cable companies encrypt most of 
their digital content, leaving only locals in the clear. My cable company 
(Cox in RI) does this, with the added twist that the locals aren't detected 
on a default MythTV setup channel scan; you've got to use the "Cable HRC" 
option or some such. (I don't recall the details; it's been a while since I 
set it up.) Note that you do have to scan for channels or otherwise enter 
channel tuning data into the database before you'll be able to use the card.
