I could provide some screenshots for you to look at.

Let me put it that way: The fonts could be a lot smaller and still be
perfectly readable. The advantage would be that more information would
be visible --- like the titles of recordings not cut off with "..." in
the list of recordings, or a useful overview when you look at the TV
program.

So I would have to create my own theme. Hm. Or is there one for using
mythfrontend on your computer rather than on a TV?
