Update:

Installed ubuntu 9.04 into a VM, xmltv ... it works there ...

$ tv_grab_eu_epgdata --version
XMLTV module version 0.5.53
This is tv_grab_eu_epgdata version 1.26, 2008/08/30 21:28:30

I was able to mythfilldatabase fine with the "--file" option then on the
gentoo-box.

And the program-data shown in mythweb gets more and more useful now, it
seems I have now understood things a bit better! It now combines epgdata
and EIT as desired ...

downgraded xmltv on the gentoo box to 0.5.53 as well, but there the
grabber is more recent:

# tv_grab_eu_epgdata --version
XMLTV module version 0.5.53
This is tv_grab_eu_epgdata version 1.30, 2009/05/29 16:08:44

Now the grabber runs through without errors but the output-file only
contains this header:

# cat epg-daten5.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd">

<tv generator-info-name="tv_grab_eu_epgdata"></tv>

The same result with the stable ebuild for xmltv (0.5.50, grabber *also*
1.26)

hmm. Seems I have to file a bug at gentoo.org.

geektoy-factor aside, I don't want to run a virtual machine for this
task alone ;-)

Thanks, Stefan
