A coworker had issues setting up Myth a few years so I took up the
challenge as my aging VCR was getting more cumbersome to use, 
Investigating MythTV I found that the Via based computer I was planning
to use had known issues with the PVR-150.  So, I bought a small
Thinkcentre tower off eBay and gave Mythbuntu a whirl.  Despite a bit
of a learning curve with Myth (not so much Linux or Mythbuntu as I'm a
long time Debian user), it has worked very well.  Except for Ubuntu
updates, it's simply an appliance which is a testament to the hard work
of the developers.

Most of my aggravation stemmed from my TV and not Myth and the TV
refused to work with an S-video to composite cable (I tried a couple). 
So I would up getting an Averkey VGA to TV converter and it works well
enough although it creates some artifacts and dithering with certain
shades of color.  Whenever I get an OLED TV (Heh!) I'll make sure that
it has a VGA input.

Needless to say, my VCR is still in storage.

Thaks for such a fine system.  Now I've happened into another computer
that I think I'll set up for my brother.
