[mythtv-users] Why did you pick MythTV VS the other PVRs?

I chose MythTV for the following reasons:

Freedom. Free to use the device as I want to. Not being restricted on how
to watch my recordings. If I want to re-encode my recordings to watch on
my Nokia N800 or Android phone I can.

Choice and upgradability. Being able to pick and choose what hardware to
use. Add new hardware as my needs changes (capture cards, hard drives)

Flexibility. Add more frontends as I need them. For a long time I used a
Hauppauge MediaMVP box. I recently built a Zotac Ion box and absolutely
love it.

Community. As with most F/OSS projects the community around MythTV is great.
