It all looks good to me. What is contained in your /dev/dvb directory? for two 
tuners you should have:

  /dev/dvb/adapter0
  /dev/dvb/adapter1

I do have a ASUS U3100 myself it it works a charm, with Mythbuntu 9.04, but 
updating your V4L drivers should have been sufficient and your dmesg looks good.

You could do a release upgrade:
  sudo do-release-upgrade

That's how I upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04, but i think its worth investigating a 
bit further before you get drastic :)
