[mythtv-users] Editing/transcoding HD-PVR (.ts) files

Bob,
I also do not know if the audio is the problem, but I suspect that
your STB's optical out and RCA stereo out will work at the same time. As
an experiment attach the RCA connection directly from the STB to your TV
and the Optical connection from the STB to the HDPVR. Set the HDPVR to
record audio from the optical connection. Check that the HDPVR recording
is AC3 instead of AAC and then try to edit the recording in Avidemux.

If that does not work then you could try to compile Avidemux from
their SVN.

I just re-synced my version of Avidemux this morning and the LATEST
2.4 version is 2.4.3 (r5256). I do not know what version you are
getting from Ubuntu but it could be the problem, Find out exactly what
version you have by starting Avidemux, click help then about and that
will display the exact version. I worked with the Avidemux developers to
get Avidemux to work wth the HDPVR recordings, I supplied sample video
HDPVR recordings and then test the changes made until avidemux worked
properly. That was about 8 months ago.

I sent you by email the avidemux compile script I use. Plus here is a
Web site were you can get prepackaged versions of Avidemux 2.5 although
I have never tried any version higher than 2.4.3.

Good Luck
