[mythtv-users] help with motorola dct-3416

I recently upgraded my mythtv setup from an analog pvr-250 to using a 
Motorola dct-3416 for my input device.  I have it configured in
broadcast mode at 100Mbps, and everything else at their default values.
For software I am running a recent gentoo version of mythtv marked
mythtv-0.21_p20877.0

The problem I have is that I can't always get data from the firewire
interface.  I see the problem when I select live tv and after
the screen goes to black it returns to the main menu after a few
seconds.  Other times I get a warning followed by the message:

 	You should have gotten a channel lock by now.  You can continue
 	to wait for a signal, or you can change the channels with Up or
 	Down, change video source (Y), or inputs (c), etc.

Some recordings work great, and the digital quality is noticeable, but
other recordings are just blank, and in fact the video data file is
empty.  When the problem occurs I have been restarting by backend and
that seems to help for a while.

Some questions are, should I be having these problems?  Should I modify
my configuration?  Should I try to get a different cable box from
Comcast in the Seattle area?
