What I have now works pretty well.  None of the digital equipment
seems to have a problem with the signal strength after being split,
it's just the analog stuff which was fuzzy.

Comcast is moving to all digital within a month or so in my area, so I
need to pick up DTA's for the remaining analog equipment.  I presume
I'll just remove the powered splitter and just use ordinary splitters
and everything will "just work".

I just wanted to point out that your mileage may vary when it comes to
amplifiers.
