I also have a Samsung TV and the tuners in my the HDHomerun are much
BETTER than those in the Samsung. I can pick up all the Baltimore and
Washington stations (I live northwest of Baltimore, so the DC stations
are much farther away) just fine on the HDHomerun, but the Samsung
can't pick up any of the DC stations and has trouble with some of the
Baltimore stations. Of course, I could have a bad tuner in the TV or
Samsung might put a crappier tuner in their lower priced models (mine
was only $1000).

But, in my experience the tuners in the HDHomerun work pretty well.
