[mythtv-users] how is my MCE remote working??

I got a MCE generic remote. Running mythtv under ubuntu on a minimac. So I
plugged in the usb IR receiver, then ran "dpkg-reconfigure lirc", choosed
the MCE remote. However, no output from irw, okay lircd is coded to use
/dev/lirc0 and that doesn't exist. So is lirc really working? The remote
seems to work though, even when i stop the lirc daemon. I can use
the cursor buttons in Xwindows to control the cursor. I can also use the
remote's arrow to navigate the menus. What magical thing is mapping all the
buttons already in Xwindows and mythtvfrontend? Can anyone explain to me
how this is working and irw shows nothing? Also any ideas on how i can get
LIRC to actually work with the remote?
