[mythtv-users] SRT subtitles

Is there a trick to getting these to work?  I'm on .21 fixes, was on
JYA patch _but_ I reverted to core mythbuntu fixes before posting
this.

I have Filename.avi, Filename.idx, and Filename.srt playing with the
internal player.  I'm using ffmpeg and yadif(2x).  If I hit "t' it
says "TXT 888 ON" on the top left but no text ever comes up.  If I
continue and then hit t in the top right it will say " TXT: ' " (with
that odd single quote) but still no text shows up.

How can I log subtitles, check settings, or get any info on why this
might not be working?  The exact same files (avi/idx/srt) work
perfectly in mplayer, so I'm FAIRLY certain it's not the files.
