I don't think so, but I'll double check.  I'm using a USB key as my  
only storage -- no hard drive, no cd/dvd.  So having it be off while  
running would fit your suggestion, however.

I wonder if getting the polarity switched would make such a  
difference...  Doesn't seem like it should.
